What you wear afterwords really makes a difference in how your tan develops.  You want LOOSE fitting clothing.  It's best not to wear a bra if possible as well.  Anything pressed tight against your skin could rub off the spray tanning solution before it has a chance to develop.  Dark clothing is always best, just in case you get some bronzer rub off!

How Does Sunless Tanning Work?

Almost all sunless tanning products contain an ingredient called DHA.  This is what causes you to look tan!  DHA is made from plant sugars, and causes a reaction similar to when you peel an apple and it turns brown from the air.

DHA will only effect the outer dead layer of your skin.  This is why a spray tan lasts 7-10 days!  It comes off naturally as your skin sloughs off.  Sunless tanning products containing DHA last longer, and give more natural looking color results.  It's also totally safe for cosmetic use!

It would be horrible to have ill results from spray tanning, and then have to live with it in your pictures!  Go somewhere professional and get one done before hand, that way you know exactly what it's going to look like.  The tan that you will wear for your event should be sprayed about 2 days before your big day.  Remember that if you are going to be wearing a wedding dress, or anything else light colored getting sprayed with a clear spray tanning solution is a good option.  That way there is zero chance of rub off on your dress!

Keeping Your Tanning Gun Clean

It's so important to keep your spray tanning gun clean!  If your gun gets gunked up and dirty, it will without a doubt show through in your spray tans.  Splotchy uneven sunless tans are typically due to clogged up equipment.  Good thing its super easy to keep your spray tanning gun clean!

All you have to do is spray some water through it at the end of the day.  Maybe mid day if you have a high volume of clients.  Fill your solution cup with water and spray it through your spray tanning gun.  If it's super clogged use some airbrush/hvlp cleaner!  You can dilute it, about one part cleaner to two parts water.  Spray that mixture through your gun.  Once you've sprayed the cleaner though, rinse the solution cup and fill with clean water.  Spray the water through your spray tan gun then to rinse out all the cleaning agent!
